To restore the lost function and aesthetics of teeth caused by decays or gum diseases, small materials made of titanium are placed in the jawbone in a simple surgical operation.
After extraction of tooth, other teeth tend to slide towards the gap of extraction in time. Teeth tend to become intermittent, and symmetrical tooth array is deteriorated. In loss of lower teeth, upper teeth are extended towards the lower gap of extraction. Plaques build up in such regions with deteriorated symmetry, and some regions cannot be sufficiently cleaned. In areas of lost teeth, bone would be lost in time. Consequently, missing teeth must be replaced right after loss of teeth. Implant is a tissue-friendly titanium part that can substitute such missing teeth. They combine with bones, and provide a solid chewing support. Implant also prevents loss of alveoli bone arising from missing tooth. Loss of alveoli bone tissue causes collapse of cheeks inwards. As implant treatment protects alveoli bone, person’s face pattern would be preserved.
Implants are generally placed in two phases. In the first phase, implant is placed on the jawbone. (2-4 months) and implant is awaited to be accommodated by the jawbone. After completion of such time, upper parts of implants are opened by a simple non-surgical operation. Parts to support permanent prostheses are placed on the implants. After fitting such parts and a few trials, new teeth are prepared for use. Thus, without touching natural teeth, gaps are corrected via implant.
After placing implant on the jawbone, permanent prosthesis can be fitted after just 20 days’ waiting period, and involved in the chewing function. However, such application is available only in suitable cases with appropriate implants. This process is called immediate implant.

When do we apply implants:
- Missing single tooth (instead of bending by cutting the tooth beneath, single implanting without touching other teeth is a much more protective and aesthetical treatment option.)
- Multiple missing teeth; particularly in unilateral loss of all molar teeth, patients generally need to use removable denture. Implant option saves the person from removable denture, and give the chance to use fixed denture which is easily adaptable.
- In case of complete loss of teeth, bone is lost in time, especially in lower jaw. With implant option, people can be set free from palate prostheses, using fixed prostheses, or implant-supported removable dentures called telescopic prosthesis.
